Caerlaverock.

So…I am not doing very well at keeping up with this blog at the moment due to be being busy looking after Mum. I am behind on a few updates which I hopefully will get posted up in the next week. The first is a quick visit to Caerlaverock in Scotland near Dumfries to the Wildlife and Wetlands Trust site there where thousands of geese arrive to spend the winter on the shores of the Solway. We discovered Caerlaverock roughly translates as ‘fort of the skylark’, ‘caer’ meaning ‘fort’ and ‘laverock’ meaning ‘skylark’.

We had a lovely couple of hours wandering around and visiting the various hides and saw a huge, noisy flock of Barnacle Geese, a few Whooper Swans and a small flock of Long Tailed Tits!
