Possum Galore
A life āDown Underā!
Too wet!
So...the other day we had nearly another 100 mms of rain in one day on top of the various other showers which we have been having over the last fortnight. The ground is sodden and water is running off the hills all around us. We have been trying hard to stop the road up to the house from washing away due to the steeper sections and have been pretty successful overall but some sections are looking dodgy. The dam has continued to rise and is less than a foot below the overflow channel. Will has never seen it so high. The bridge down at Glen Aplin was once again briefly flooded by the River Severn meaning Will had to make a long detour to work. It is interesting to note that exactly a year ago we were in a panic about the bush fire just over the hill.
Busy times!
So...this weekend we are in Brisbane again to see Hannah Gadsby tonight. It is very humid here but overcast and further storms are predicted later.
With the return of 'La NiƱa' for a second consecutive year it does not look like the endlessly cloudy and rainy weather is going away yet.
The ground at home is sodden and squelching under foot but I guess it is better than when it was crackling during the drought. We should be glad our tanks are full and the dam is still rising.
In recent days we have been busy finishing repairs to Frogknot and cleaning and making it ready for guests, first Maree and Lolly and at present Tessa.
We have seen little of the fox in recent days but all the chooks are safely fenced in down near the house these days, in a kind of safety quarantine.
Sadly our three Grey Shrike Thrush chicks disappeared over a couple of days before they fledged. Something must have discovered them and taken them.
