Banana hunter!
Another practically sleepless, muggy night!I heard Will leave at 7.00 this morning. Jaxy starting first time after her recent nut tinkering.Dulcie was up at 8.30.I soon realised that Will had taken the car keys to school with him which meant that I couldn't use Roxy when Blue Care came for Respite later.I would just have to go out for a local walk instead. At 9 ish the phone rang......I thought she said it was Rihanna.......could she come at 11 instead of 10 for respite?......what the heck!?.......it didn't really matter.........'Ok,' I said."Hi Rihanna" I said as she came in at 11."It's Riona" she corrected me. Oops!I plugged myself into my Ipod and set off through the back streets to Woolies for bananas. Dulcie loves bananas, particularly at the moment. The Ipod was on shuffle and playing a very melancholic selection.I passed two schools......today was their first day back after the summer holidays.....the start of the new school year.I didn't care that I was dripping with sweat, listening to melancholic music in search of bananas.....I was much happier doing that than being back in school any day!Returning home I needed a shower before relieving Riona of her charge.Dulcie had a banana sandwich for lunch and I left her watching the 'screaming bitches' at the Australian Open and came down to the muggy Man - Cave.Down by the river this weekend Jen and I had sat and listened to Will and Tracy playing mandolin and guitar, respectively, together.Jen suggested we start practising with our guitars......so I did. I practised for half an hour and then did some Spanish revision for an other 30 minutes.I felt most productive.I wonder how long I will keep at it though?
'Lady of the Flies.'
We had a family barbecue yesterday here in the back garden. Wendi and Geoff, Danny, Xiaoling and Leslie came over in the afternoon. We had a lovely time sat under the pergola wafting away the flies that were trying to vomit on our lunches. While waiting for everyone to come back down for some of the cake that Danny had made specially, Dulcie grabbed the cake slice and killed a fly that landed in front of her."That' s one less," she said, laughing.Of course we had to take the cake slice in to be washed again as most of us don't like our cake with fly innards, preferring cream or ice cream instead.Someone brought back her trusty fly swat. She killed two more with it."This cost a dollar," she said, brandishing it."Never was money more well spent," I said.
