Eurovision!
So.........we were up at 5.00 am yesterday morning. We carried Dulcie's TV down to the Man - Cave to watch the Eurovision Song Contest live from Vienna in Austria. It was the 60th Eurovision Song Contest and as part of the Anniversary celebrations Australia had been invited to take part as a one off event.Eurovision is very big over here.....probably because many residents have roots in Europe.Guy Sebastian represented Australia in the song contest with the song 'Tonight Again'. Guy was the first winner of Australian Idol and is now a judge on X Factor over here.I don't know much about him or his songs but most of the people I know don't like him.In the end Australia came 5th while Sweden won, beating Russia which I was pleased about. The UK got 5 votes in total and came 24th out of 27. No one votes for the UK any more. Malta always used to give us high votes and Ireland always gives us something but Ireland were knocked out in one of the semi-finals and were otherwise engaged in another important vote in their country. At least the UK got more votes than Austria, this years hosts, and Germany who both got no votes whatsoever.Russia always seems to do well even after they invade the country of another competitor, Ukraine. I suggest that the UK invades Iceland shortly before next years contest and we might be in with a chance....either that or pick someone with a decent song!'I wanted Belgium to win'......and there is something you don't say everyday.
