Winter Solstice.
So...we have reached the longest night for this year. Tomorrow the sun starts to gradually rise higher in the sky again and hopefully it will lead to more power for our batteries and warmer water for us in the future.
Even more Home Improvements.
So...these last few months we have been busy putting up the new Car Port, next to Blue Moon, when we could afford the materials. Today we finished it.
It is midwinter now Down Under and as the sun is lower in the sky our solar water heating system is barely heating the water. We have modified our wood stove by adding a section to the flue that contains a spiral of copper tubing that we hoped would heat the water, when we have the stove lit, by the thermo syphon effect...
We have had difficulty getting it to work but we had some success today with Will adding a small water pump to circulate the water through the system.
Tasmanian travellers.
So...we have had a lovely visit from Will's Brother Terry and Fiona who live in Tasmania, the last two days. They have travelled up through the centre of Australia and back down the East Coast and are on their way back to Tassie now.
