So...this weekend we were back in Brisbane for Women in Voice 2021.
That Darn Fox!
So...I looked out this afternoon and saw a chicken on the roof of Frogknot! It is a very unusual sight as they rarely fly up so high.
A couple of the roosters were making an alarm noise a little later and I went out to check all was ok. I couldn't see what the fuss was about but they were acting a bit weird. I ended up rounding everyone up and getting them back to Fort Yudhisthira. There should be 13 in all but I could only see 12 when I got them up to the pen...Arke was missing.
Will and I looked all over when he came home but found no trace of her. We think that 'Darn Fox' has taken her.
Her loss is particularly sad as Arke is one of our original hens. We got her with Yudhisthira and her twin, Iris. Of our original flock we now only have Pacha left.
Shortly after our futile search Will's phone rang and it was Dave next door. Last night he lost seven of his flock. The fox got in to his 'chook' pen by chewing through the wire!
I went out and double checked the defences at Fort Yudhisthira tonight by torch light. It makes me nervous when we have such a determined fox about!

So...a huge low pressure system is approaching from the South West in the next few days with the possibility that we may see some snow here in The Granite Belt. (The arrow points to where we are.)
