Badger Galore
Staying ‘Up Over’ for a while.
The reptiles return.
So...today we went down to the dam to take a picture of our first flowering water lily and spotted a red bellied black snake. Will discovered a Perentie lizard lurking around outside Fort Yudhisthira when he went up to let the chooks out and later I found it trapped inside. I went to check on it a while after and it had found its way out again. I don't think it was lucky to find any eggs today though.
Deck improvements.
So...we have been busy and made quite a few trips to Bunnings in Warwick this last week. We now have three shade cloth blinds and two waterproof café blinds to keep the rain out of our outdoor sitting area. The last two days we have been busy adding a balustrade around the deck too. All the wood we used comes from bush around us. The balustrade is made from a large, (dead) black cypress tree that we made into planks with the chainsaw mill.

So...yesterday, walking across the garden, I suddenly felt something cold and spiky on my left foot and looking down discovered it was the biggest stick insect I have ever seen. It was as big as my foot! I admit I did scream a bit as I shook my foot violently to get the thing off. Here are some pictures Will took of this monster...
Later in the day Will spotted our resident serpent...
