Possum Galore
A life ‘Down Under’!
'Will no one rid me of this turbulent possum?'
So...we were woken by gnawing and scratching before dawn as our Possum tried to gain entry into the roof space again. Failing to find a gap after our renewed efforts last night she ran around to the other side of the roof, which we blocked off last week and unbelievably managed to get in there!Tonight she took ages to emerge and when we finally heard movement discovered she was stuck and was trying to gnaw her way out. Will had to go up the ladder and actually remove some of the blocking material to allow her to get out and then we blocked off all the gaps again. There can surely be no way in in the morning! She is going to have to find somewhere else but I reckon tomorrow is going to be a difficult day for her.
The cheek!
Blatantly flaunting her occupancy!Yes! She somehow got back in after our efforts last night, and tonight she kept us waiting far longer than normal for her to come back out before we could go back up and reinforce the potential gaps. Surely that's it now. We have had enough!
The end of a saga?
So... tonight we were finally able to seal off the last bit of the roof after buying the materials we needed at the weekend. We prepared everything this morning while Little Miss Galore slept with her tail sticking out of the eaves. Tonight, after she finally left her sleeping quarters, Will was up the ladder to block it off once and for all, by torchlight, braving the swarms of mosquitoes that have appeared after the rain! The possum box has been fastened up on the tree on the deck so the evicted party does have suitable living quarters if she chooses to avail herself of them.I am expecting a few mornings of noisy attempts at re-entry before she finally settles somewhere else but hopefully this is the end of the possum eviction saga.Or is it?
And the rain keeps falling!
A shot taken driving home yesterday after a storm which gave us another 20 mls. The dam is the second highest I have seen it.
