Squatter!

So...we had one day free of our Possum roof dwellers since Will boarded up all the entrances but we were rudely awakened in the early hours this morning by someone loudly and roughly attempting to gain access. We are not sure how he did it but Possum Jnr is back under the roof.Grrrrr! Back to the drawing board!

Thanks Huey, but please can we have some more?

So...we had 54 mls yesterday and the dam is pretty much back to normal with the water finally covering the turtle rock.It was dry all day and we even had some sun to warm the water and add some power to the batteries. IMG_20200209_9295After sunset a storm brew up and we had a bit of rain but nothing much.Elsewhere there has been some flooding in various places and all this rain has helped to dampen down many of those fires that are still burning. At Tracy's the Clarence River has risen over the bank. She had 80 mls in three hours last night.IMG_9250The Clarence at Ashby.

Evicted!

So...today we had a cooler, dry day and were able to finally seal off the 'under roof' to stop Galore and 'Son' ( for we think it is a 'he') from sleeping in the roof insulation. 'He' has been sleeping alone of late. Galore is leaving 'him' to fend for 'himself' more. Galore was nowhere to be seen up there today but we found 'him' sleeping in a corner of the roof.
Will was able to seal off most of the gaps and we left the one where 'he' gets in until after dark. After 'he' came out tonight Will went back up and sealed it off. Those possums are now evicted from Blue Moon.Fingers crossed.

Very moist!

So... it has practically rained non-stop from 9.00 am this morning. When I last checked the rain gauge about two hours ago we were up to 49 mls. All three tanks have been overflowing since before lunch time. Off to bed now and it is still raining. We are hoping it rains all night and can't wait to see how much the dam has come up in the morning!'Send her down Huey!'

Quite moist!

So...presently we have been under a cloud. We are experiencing a period of cooler, wetter weather which is predicted to last over a week. The east coast and places further west into central Queensland have enjoyed prolonged periods of rain, though as usual our predicted rainfall amounts have not materialised. We have had about 17 mls over the last three days which is better than nothing but it is not what we hoped for. Still, more rain is predicted onwards into next week so hopefully there is much more to come.I had to cut the grass the other day around Blue Moon as it has really grown since we finally had some rain. The poor lawn mower has been idle for about 18 months but I managed to get it going. It was also nice to have a quick swim in the dam at the weekend, before the cooler weather set in but we are hoping that, weather permitting it will be back up to its normal level soon.I was reading today that it is likely that a cyclone may form over the weekend out in the Coral Sea and early indications suggest it may head our way. We need some biblical rain to get the Severn river flowing again and enough to fill Storm King Dam so the ongoing water restrictions can be lifted in the town. The downside of all this cloudy weather is we are having to conserve power as the solar batteries are not getting charged as usual plus our solar water heating system relies on the sun so our showers, at present, are quite a bit cooler, if barely warm.
