Gotcha!

So...while lying awake due to the heat, the other night, I heard a scratching sound somewhere outside. I shone a light outside and the noise stopped and eventually as the air cooled I got to sleep.We had left the doors open downstairs but left the screen door closed to allow air to circulate but in the morning discovered thisDSCN5743I then discovered what the noise I had heard in the night wasDSCN5747Something had been eating our bin!Last night we set a trap. The bait?...a gingerbread man's head! Gotcha!DSCN5744The guilty party has been repatriated.

Australia on Fire.

So...we are getting a few messages asking us if we are OK with all these terrible fires around Australia.We are fine, at the moment, and the fires on the news are a long way from us. It is heart breaking to hear of the deaths of volunteer firefighters and people trying to save their homes. Those fire fighters are a special breed and some have been fighting fires for weeks now.The bush around us is tinder dry and just today we heard there was a vegetation fire in Sundown National Park to the south of us. Having seen the vast areas over which these fires can spread in these unprecedented dry conditions on our trip down to Maclean over Christmas, we shall be keeping a close eye on that fire in Sundown. We suspect it was started by lightning from the storm that passed over that area yesterday (It passed us by again so we had no rain.) … but for now we are lucky and, pomegranate seeds willing, long may that continue until the rains come.

Happy New Year!

So...tonight we went down to the rocks to watch the last sunset of 2019...
At midnight we smashed a pomegranate against the door of Blue Moon, which is a Greek New Year tradition, and the greater the number of seeds that spill from it the more luck you will have in the coming year.PomegraniteHappy New Year everyone!May 2020 be memorable for all the best reasons!
