A surprise roof!

So...yesterday I returned home from a long day in the 'Book Cave' to find this...
The Cheeseman had been busy. I don't know how he got the 5 metre sheets of tin up there on his own without injuring himself but our outdoor room is looking good.

Caliban lives!

So...it has been a long time since we have seen Caliban, our one eyed possum. I was beginning to think he was gone for good but tonight he turned up again in the pear tree outside Blue Moon. IMG_20190812_210237812While I was taking this picture Will heard the pump going down by Frogknot and we discovered that 'something' had turned on the shower tap down behind Frogknot. The shower head was hanging down, which it does when possums use it to get down off the roof to try and get at the soap. 'Something' must have then clambered further down switching on the tap. The pump must have been going for hours. We have lost quite a bit of water from the shed tank, something that we could do without at this present time, but it is still about 3/4 full. I wonder if Caliban knows anything about it? He wasn't saying anything though if he did.

Troubled with wind...again.

So...it has been very windy here these last few days since we got back from the coast. Just after we arrived, and as we were unpacking the car, we heard a tree come crashing down somewhere in the bush. The wind has hardly let up since and has been particularly strong today. We went for a walk down the road to check it was clear of branches and heard another branch come crashing down close by. It is forecast to quieten down from tomorrow and there is a small chance of snow tonight.P1110510 (Medium)We solved a mystery on our walk down the road this afternoon. There is a spot where we regularly see bird droppings but no sign of the birds in the trees above. We thought it was perhaps parrots roosting but today we discovered it is a roosting place for a group of Kookaburras. As we got back we saw an echidna drinking from what is left of the dam.
