Anne's last night at Frogknot...for now.

So...tonight we had a good old fashioned 'Aussie' barbie on the deck at Blue Moon with the best neighbours in the World. It was a veritable feast rounded off with Nigella's sticky date pudding and Lamingtons brought from next door and a musical finale in doors.
Tomorrow we head to Brisbane for an afternoon concert and then head to the airport in the evening ready for our early morning flight 'Up Over!'Farewell 'Anne Galore!' Get ready for the return of 'Badger Galore'.

Now they're coooookin'! (This post contains scenes that some may find disturbing.)

So...with our departure to 'Up Over' fast approaching today we had to have a rooster cull. Four roosters were despatched from Branwen's and Sheng Mu's first hatchlings last  year. Soon the 'chooks' will be penned up for weeks and it would have been no fun with five roosters in close confinement. I spent the morning at a CPR refresher course for the 'Book Cave' and returned to find the cull in full swing. Despite my training there was little I could do to save the four victims.
There are six of the chicks left from Sheng-Mu's second brood, that we had to hand rear for a few days following her exhaustion. Two of the original eight now live next door replacing those the fox took while our neighbours were on holiday. We will name/ eat the remaining six when we know whether they are hens or roosters.
