Still settling in.

So...it is Day 3 in Blue Moon House. Tonight we are all off to the 'McCarthy Uprising', a party next door at our neighbours, to celebrate the rebuilding of their house after the fire two years ago.Yesterday I was working at the Book Cave all day and Anne had a wander in Stanthorpe for a few hours until Will picked her up after cheese-making. She had booked a hair appointment for today and so came in with me again this morning as I was back at the Book Cave until lunchtime. She said she had had a great day yesterday but then spotted her first 'tiny' spider. I didn't have time to rescue it and relocate it before she squashed it flat.We had 6 mls of rain today, only half of what was promised but nowhere near enough to top up our dwindling dam. There was drama this afternoon too when a fox attacked and grabbed Thor. Will gave chase and Thor escaped and has recovered well from his ordeal. We shall have to be more vigilant now. The fox must be hungry to be out during the day.

Settling in!

So...Anne is still alive. We have had a busy few days since her arrival and it has all been a bit of a whirlwind for poor Anne. She has survived two nights alone in Frogknot under the safety of her mosquito net. She has not yet encountered any eight legged creatures nor heard the skitterings of small, furry, four legged creatures in the night and the possums have been kind and avoided racing across the tin roof. She cannot say that she has had a good nights sleep here yet but is settling in to bush life."Well, the cave men survived" says Anne commenting upon our home life. She is used to using the composting loo with a view and we can see her wandering down to it in the night with her torch scanning the way ahead. She had her first outdoor shower yesterday and described it as 'lovely'.Yesterday we got the wood stove and the chimney flues fitted in Blue Moon House and today we finally were able to move in!Today we brought up all the kitchen things, the fridge and the TV but we did have to nip into town this afternoon for Anne to visit a dentist.Tonight Will cooked a roast dinner and it was the second meal we have had in Blue Moon, the first being Christmas Dinner, but it was the first meal we have cooked and eaten in Blue Moon. We then sat down to watch MasterChef Australia by the warmth of the wood stove.
It all felt a little strange and as Will said it feels like we have abandoned an old friend. Frogknot still feels more like home than Blue Moon even though we have been sleeping in it every night since January 2018. It is still early days and, as it is for Anne, there is much we have to get used to.
