Settling in!

So...Anne is still alive. We have had a busy few days since her arrival and it has all been a bit of a whirlwind for poor Anne. She has survived two nights alone in Frogknot under the safety of her mosquito net. She has not yet encountered any eight legged creatures nor heard the skitterings of small, furry, four legged creatures in the night and the possums have been kind and avoided racing across the tin roof. She cannot say that she has had a good nights sleep here yet but is settling in to bush life."Well, the cave men survived" says Anne commenting upon our home life. She is used to using the composting loo with a view and we can see her wandering down to it in the night with her torch scanning the way ahead. She had her first outdoor shower yesterday and described it as 'lovely'.Yesterday we got the wood stove and the chimney flues fitted in Blue Moon House and today we finally were able to move in!Today we brought up all the kitchen things, the fridge and the TV but we did have to nip into town this afternoon for Anne to visit a dentist.Tonight Will cooked a roast dinner and it was the second meal we have had in Blue Moon, the first being Christmas Dinner, but it was the first meal we have cooked and eaten in Blue Moon. We then sat down to watch MasterChef Australia by the warmth of the wood stove.
It all felt a little strange and as Will said it feels like we have abandoned an old friend. Frogknot still feels more like home than Blue Moon even though we have been sleeping in it every night since January 2018. It is still early days and, as it is for Anne, there is much we have to get used to.

Happy Birthday to me!

So...another year on Earth has passed for me. We left the Gold Coast this morning and headed up to Brisbane to find that Syd's Pie and British Food Shop was closed on Sundays. We visited IKEA next for a few more Blue Moon items, the last of the insulated blinds we need for the windows and some new crockery. We then drove to our accomodation in Brisbane for the next two nights, a very nice two bedroomed apartment on South Bank. It is definitely a step up from the Palm Beach Hotel we were in on the Gold Coast. This afternoon we went to see the film of the moment, 'Avengers: Endgame'. It was over three hours long but it didn't feel that long at all. We picked up a Chinese takeaway for dinner and took it back to our apartment before heading off to the airport at midnight to collect our special guest for the next month...received_445316442906109Yes, Anne's back!

Verdi's Requiem

So...this weekend we have come down to the Gold Coast and tonight we saw Verdi's Requiem at HOTA (Home of the Arts). It was in the open air theatre under the stars and was quite spectacular with its accompanying pyrotechnics. Here are some pictures of our weekend...
