Not on my watch?!

So...today I went over to check our neighbours 'chooks' and only found four in the pen when there should have been six. I didn't let them out yesterday but had done the day before but asked Will to go lock them up while I was making dinner. He didn't count them when he locked them up. What I think has happened is that when Will locked the pen door two were still outside and a fox got them in the night. One of the missing is 'Uggy', little Nate's white pekin cockeral. I found a trail of white feathers leading off into the bush behind the pen. I feel so bad that it happened on my watch.

'Birdy sitters'.

So...while our neighbours are away for a week we are looking after their 'chooks' and their two pet budgies. When I went to shut the 'chooks' in for the night tonight I just had to take a picture of the sunset from their place...IMG_20190407_174444099

Thanks Trevor!

So...we have had a great week. Last Friday we headed down to Brisbane. On Saturday I had delicious 'Tender Calamari' at the Rocklea Markets and in the evening were at The City Hall to see Jan Van Der Stool as part of the Brisbane Comedy Festival. On Sunday we went to GOMA to see the Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art with Ros and Andrew and lunch down Fish Lane before heading off to Paddington to meet up with Tracy, Jen and Chomo for three nights in an Airbnb. On Monday we were back at GOMA with Trace and Jen and wandered the exhibition again, this time without the crowds of the previous day which was much better. On Tuesday Will and I head off to Ikea to get the last of our kitchen cupboards and the benchtops for Blue Moon. We also made a short detour and picked up four bottles of Vimto from Syd's British Shop at Loganholme. On Wednesday we headed back home as I was at the 'Book Cave' from 1.00pm until 5.00pm. It was Jen's ??th birthday and they came back with us to Frogknot for a few days. I was back at the 'Book Cave' on Thursday in the afternoon but spent Thursday morning and Friday putting together the last three kitchen cupboards. Thursday also saw the arrival of Ros for her birthday weekend. On Friday Will picked up our new oven for 'Blue Moon' and we somehow managed to manhandle that into position in the kitchen. I can't wait to get it all set up. The very first thing I will be making in the oven will be 'Dulcie Biscuits'.The remains of Ex- Cyclone Trevor finally passed over us today (Saturday) after drenching the rest of outback Queensland. Out West they have seen upward of 120 mms of rain in many places but Trevor gifted us with 35 mls. It is better than nothing. We have two nearly full tanks and the dam has finally come up a bit. Thanks Trevor!Tracy, Jen and Chomo headed back down to the River this morning. We will see them again for Eurovision! It is Ros's ??th birthday today. After I spent the morning at the 'Book Cave' we have had a lovely lazy day and were visited by some Walleroos this evening here to nibble on the grass that is coming back after the dry weather.
