So...Sheng- Mu came out of hiding yesterday and as we suspected is sitting on some eggs somewhere. I reckon it is down by the dam so I was shadowing her closely to see if she would lead me too it but ended up startling her into flight. She flew out over the dam and then promptly landed with a splash in the middle of it. She was even more panic stricken hitting the water but after the initial shock quickly paddled duck- like to the edge of the dam where she was faced with an impenetrable wall of reeds like a Honduran refugee encountering the Wall of Trump. I had to wade onto the water to rescue her and lift her back onto dry land. She disappeared again shortly afterwards. It's a good hiding place but I hope that a fox can't sniff her out.

The Mysterious Disappearance of Sheng-Mu.
So...today we noticed Sheng-Mu is missing. I think I saw her yesterday but can't be sure. I let all the 'chooks' out before I headed off to work this morning but don't remember seeing her then. There has been no sight of a fox recently but last week they were spooked by something that caused Pacha to run into the house. Dashing out I saw nothing but suspect it was an attack from the air.We are hoping that she is not ended up eagle food. We last had an egg from her, in the pen, on Christmas Eve and are hoping that she has been laying elsewhere in the grounds since and has now gone broody and settled down to hatch them. Maybe she will show herself or maybe she will just appear with chicks in 21 days or so.Fingers crossed.

A Huntsman Spider...one of the biggest I have seen. I could hardly get the glass over it to catch it!
