Watch it! Wedgie!

So...this afternoon we saw four 'Wedgies' (Wedge Tailed Eagles) wheeling in the sky over Frogknot. One of them spotted Odin, Arke and Pacha cowering under a tree and came down for a closer look landing in the very same tree. Will and I were ready to chase it if it made a move on the 'chooks' but it flew off leaving Odin to hurry his charges back to the safety of Fort Yudhisthira.

The Jigsaw Wall.

So...despite being weary from work Will and I finished boarding the last wall in Blue Moon at the weekend. We had no full boards left so had to use off cuts to cover it. It will be mostly covered by cupboards eventually so it didn't really matter.

Troubled with wind!

So...for the last week or so we have been troubled by wind! It came from the West and for a few days at least carried dust from the Outback. IMG_20181123_145013621

Dust haze over Stanthorpe from Mt Marley.

At Frogknot one particularly strong gust snapped a tree in half which fell on the shed. P1090161 (Medium)Interestingly and slightly alarmingly, it is the same kind of tree that we have used as the poles for Blue Moon. Gulp!I cannot remember such a prolonged period of wind here where it has been gusty everyday for at least a week.Driving home tonight I saw this IMG_20181126_162045068 (Medium)It was alarming at first as it is in the general direction of home. I pulled over to allow the fire engine to speed past. Situations like this are obviously not helped by the wind and it one of the greatest fears hereabouts. IMG_20181126_162158460 (Medium)Thankfully for us it turned out not to be as close as I first thought and the wind was blowing away from us. It did not appear too big a fire and hopefully the 'Firies' get it under control.

Getting it done!

So...Last week Ros came up to stay with us for a few days and we took advantage of the extra pair of hands to finish putting up the last of the ceiling boards downstairs...
Earlier that same day (Thurs 22nd) I was awakened at 7.00 am, from a deep sleep, by Will as Sky Blue had broken down on his way to work. He had rung the RACQ and they could not fix it so were taking it to the garage. I went and picked him up and took him to work. He just had to finish off the cheese from the day before which didn't take too long and then we came home and got stuck into the ceiling boards. We got two more phone calls that day, one to say that the two new batteries Will had ordered to replace the failing truck ones for Frogknot had arrived at the Cheese Factory and the second call was from the garage to say that Sky Blue was fixed. We had finished the ceiling so all went in to collect Sky Blue and nipped to collect the batteries too.Back home Will connected the new batteries. The old truck ones have recently been pretty useless ever since they went flat while we were away in the UK. You would turn on the tap and the power needed by the pump meant that the lights in the house dimmed. We have doubled our power supply with the new batteries and don't have to watch how many lights we leave on!It was a day for getting things done!
