Staying ‘Up Over’ for a while.

Getting it done!

So...Last week Ros came up to stay with us for a few days and we took advantage of the extra pair of hands to finish putting up the last of the ceiling boards downstairs...
Earlier that same day (Thurs 22nd) I was awakened at 7.00 am, from a deep sleep, by Will as Sky Blue had broken down on his way to work. He had rung the RACQ and they could not fix it so were taking it to the garage. I went and picked him up and took him to work. He just had to finish off the cheese from the day before which didn't take too long and then we came home and got stuck into the ceiling boards. We got two more phone calls that day, one to say that the two new batteries Will had ordered to replace the failing truck ones for Frogknot had arrived at the Cheese Factory and the second call was from the garage to say that Sky Blue was fixed. We had finished the ceiling so all went in to collect Sky Blue and nipped to collect the batteries too.Back home Will connected the new batteries. The old truck ones have recently been pretty useless ever since they went flat while we were away in the UK. You would turn on the tap and the power needed by the pump meant that the lights in the house dimmed. We have doubled our power supply with the new batteries and don't have to watch how many lights we leave on!It was a day for getting things done!

Everything's all white again!

So...despite trips to Brisbane and day after day of work we have finally managed to get our bed back into Blue Moon. We moved out for a couple of weeks because we have been plastering and sanding the bedroom but today we finished the second coat of undercoat paint so have moved back in.
We are very pleased with how it has turned out. We were despairing during the plastering and were convinced al the joins between the boards would look a mess but once painted you cannot see the joins.

A Weekend of Culture.

So...on Saturday afternoon I drove to Brisbane leaving Will at Frogknot as he was 'Minstrel-ling' on Saturday night for A Midsummer Nights Dream. I went with Ros and Andrew to the Queensland Conservatorium of Music on South Bank to see Leah Cotterell perform her Doctoral Recital 'The Singer's Anatomy'. Leah has been in a couple of the most recent Women in Voice shows we have been too and if I am honest I was never overly impressed by her. I went on Saturday because our friend Annie was also singing with Leah. I have to say though that the evening was utterly fabulous and I am now a big Leah Cotterell fan.

On Sunday I drove back up to Stanthorpe and on Sunday evening went out to Bungawarra Winery to see Will for his last night in the outdoor production of A Midsummer Nights Dream. It was a fun evening though a bit breezy and the whole thing was over three hours long. The best moment was during the interval when Will pulled the winning raffle ticket out and it was mine! I won two bottles of wine (sic).

Toerag lives!

So...I have, in the last week and a half, been down at the local school for four days working in the Prep/Year 1 class. The class teacher has needed to do her end of year assessments and so I have been taking the class to free her up to do them.

Imagine my surprise at Parade on my first morning  when I spot my old 'friend' Toerag sitting there among the children. He is not in the class I have been taking, thanks be to Jean Baptiste De La Salle, but nevertheless it was he. It turns out that he has cousins at this school and has moved from the big town school to this local school after a little 'argie bargie'  at the big school. I think from the look on his face he was equally surprised to see me too. I have been lucky enough to have avoided 'duty days' so have not had much chance to see him in action at break times but it appears that he is managing to behave better in a smaller school.
