Badger Galore
Staying ‘Up Over’ for a while.
Hoards on the Rampage!
So...we have seen a few Processionary Caterpillars here before but this year most of the wattle trees around the house have a 'silk bag' at the base of the tree containing hundreds of caterpillars that rest during the day and then climb the trees at night to eat the leaves. The tree outside Blue Moon House also had a group at its base which I carefully relocated the other day as they were leaving a mess all over our new deck.Today I discovered two long lines of caterpillars heading towards the house. I made various attempts to divert them and direct them towards another vacant wattle tree but they were not interested and wandered on past so I was forced to relocate them further away from the house...
They are perhaps searching for a place to pupate after which they will become Bag-Shelter Moths.
Holiday Monday?
So...another hard days work has seen us finish the cladding to the back (Will calls it the front) of the house before finally levelling the ground under the water tanks...
Blue Moon setting.
So this morning we all got up at 5.00 am to see the last Blue Moon until 2020 set behind the hills...
