Staying ‘Up Over’ for a while.
Losing my wallet 2017.
So...I lost my wallet again the other day!I had forgotten to get something out of the freezer for tea so we decided to have a Chinese instead.I drove into town on my own to get it.Now the last time I lost my wallet was down by the river with Tracy and Jen and following that debacle Jen made me my lovely goatskin bag to carry my wallet around in.I did take my bag in with me but as I got out of the car decided that I would just take my wallet out of my bag and I left my bag in the car.I ordered the Chinese, paid with my card and was told it would be about 15 minutes so I went for a walk around town. When I lived Up Over whenever I had Chinese I always ordered a portion of chips too. I like chips with my Chinese. I know it is not very Chinesey but I don't care.Since living here I have never found a Chinese takeaway that has chips on the menu so I have had to go without. On my walk around town I remembered the Fish and Chip shop so nipped in for a serve of chips for $3.I dropped them off back at the car and then went back to the takeaway to collect the Chinese.I drove home and that was when I wondered where my wallet was as I got out of the car. I checked the car to see if it had fallen out of my pocket but it was not there.I was sure it must have fallen out of my pocket as I closed the gate down the hill. We had our tea before it got cold and then drove down to the gate. It was dark now so we searched about with torches but my wallet was nowhere to be seen.We carried on into town and I was now sure that I had lost it for good this time. I was sure I had it in my hand when I collected the Chinese but couldn't remember where I had put it. I wondered if I had put it on the car roof as I got in to come home and forgotten about it and driven off.I was sure we would end up at the Police Station reporting it missing.Firstly I went into the Chinese Takeaway and asked if anyone had handed in a wallet but it was not there. We drove around the roundabout to look if it had fallen off the rof of the car there but again nothing.Next stop was the Fish and Chip shop..."Has anyone found a wallet?" I asked the Asian man behind the counter."What is your name?" he asked and I told him and he disappeared and came back with my wallet."Where was it?" I asked. It seems I had left it on the counter when I had been handed my chips.Doh!I was so relieved to have it back again and I shall always keep it in my bag now.
More Home improvements.
The plan was to divert water into it, let the sun heat it up and then use it for showers....It works! We now don't have to light a fire to warm the water on days when it is too hot to have a fire.Yesterday we also picked up 2 cupboards from the tip shop and today I cleaned and painted them and we have now doubled our kitchen storage capacity...
The weather has cooled down today and we had some rain this afternoon which was great.Something else that is great...
Something we found in Brisbane whilst on another 'fruitless' (boom boom) Vimto hunt!
Help! My Timtams are melting!
So...the hot weather goes on and on.We are already on our third heatwave and another is predicted for the end of the week. The poor fridge is using up far more gas than normal to keep it's contents cool and my timtams are melting.I have tried shutting up the house during the day to keep the heat out and then opening up the windows after dark but there is hardly any difference to just keeping all the windows and doors open all day.I just feel clammy all day and we are having cold showers! ....I am actually choosing to have a cold shower! It is unheard of Up Over! The garden is shrivelling and the only thing keeping it going is the Cheesemaker watering for hours at dusk.I suspect the chickens are actually slowly roasting under their feathers. Here is a video from earlier this week that was on the news...https://www.facebook.com/7NewsBrisbane/videos/1087234074622777/
