'Jenny' 2.

So...Poor 'Jenny' couldn't meet the demands we placed upon her...especially when it came to the washing machine and after a few short months she started to scream, vibrate alarmingly and then stopped producing power completely.Enter 'Geronimo', bigger, tougher....noisier, but 'Geronimo' is greedy and loves his 4 stroke unleaded and using him to just gives us light and internet connection is extravagant. Will contacted 'Jenny's' supplier and they suspected she needed a part replaced. They asked Will if he felt confident fitting it himself and they made a video for him of how to do it and sent it him with the part. Will fitted the new part but 'Jenny' still did not work and so they asked him to send her back after all.Their engineer discovered that one of her circuit boards had burnt out...(ooh er....from overuse?)....and they agreed to send a replacement.'Jenny 2' arrived today. She does not have to worry about the washing machine, that's 'Geronimo's' job now. We will just use 'Jenny 2' when the batteries run out of power to power the lights and keep the TV and internet going. We are also expecting the imminent arrival of portable solar panels to boost our power input. They are made for people to take when they are camping, and we will take them too but in the meantime they will probably produce more power than the four old panels we have on the roof of the house now.'Off the grid' living eh?...You don't know you're born.

We had a few grandparents too and a  few Mums as stand ins. The morning ended with the whole school attending a Sausage Sizzle.Of course after having all these visitors early in the day it was hard to get everyone back on track. It was strange how some children who I have never had trouble with before suddenly became unhelpful and stubborn. There was a huge fall out over lunch between two girls which took awhile to sort and I felt like the whole day I was walking on eggshells trying to keep everyone happy and busy.I was worn out at the end of the school day and thoroughly relieved when the bell went. They all disappeared out of the door and I started to tidy up...and then one of the girls, who had been an utter pain all day, came back in. She gave me a hug and said,"Thank you for being my dad today," and off she went.
