Badger Galore
Staying ‘Up Over’ for a while.
Of soot, of tanks and Shogun!
So...after a few days of being smoked like herrings today Will completely overhauled the stove, cleaning it out, cobbing up the cracks and fitting a new flue pipe....so far so good. After that we settled our new water tank into its new home but it meant having to move the woodpile and wood chopping area and level the ground first. Finally we fitted together 'Shogun' our new cement mixer, no mean feat when the assembly instructions were in 'Engrish'...'Using the bolt set number 5, and the wheel of the heeling, we screw the bolt from the bottom, and from the top we put spring and stopper.''REMEMBER !! THE WEDGE BELT MUST BE STRAINED! YOU CAN DO IT GOVERNING THE MOTOR PILLAR'
These pictures make it seem like I did all the work myself...Fine, if you want to believe that.
Big investments.
So...today we took delivery of our new water tank and Will collected our new cement mixer.
'Gating' along very nicely.
So...after a very miserable and chilly day yesterday when the only thing to do was stay indoors, today we got out and about. We dug holes for the two gate posts down at the bottom of the hill and set them in the ground, cementing the one that was going to hold the gate, hopefully firmly, into the ground. Then it was back up the hill to start thinking about fitting the letters to the crossbar. While I was doing that Will made a cowl for the chimney out of a pizza tin and three gutter fasteners.
'Eggsciting' times!
So...we have been getting eggs for a few weeks now, not from Quilla and Pacha who were laying beautiful greeny blue eggs when we got them, no, the most recent eggs are from the twins, Arke and Iris. Our two roosters are vying for the attention of the hens and it looks like Hecate and the Mu sisters might be laying soon.We are also keeping an eye on our neighbours 'chooks' while they are away on holiday and they are laying too, including their one duck.Tonight Will made a delicious duck egg custard for dessert. It was 'eggstra' special!
Underground Creek.
So...today we went back to Girraween National Park and walked to and explored Underground Creek.
