The last 'Hope'.

So...today was day 4 in the realm of Toerag and Fidget and the last day of this school term.Perhaps it was Divine Intervention but Fidget and A were both absent for a second day. I cannot deny I was relieved but this class can be challenging even without those two. Again B came in after Morning Tea a different girl, loud and silly and unco-operative. I really think it must be sugar related and something she ate at break. We had to go to the Stadium at 12.00 to see a Pantomime. I was expecting a professional group but it turned out to be a group of local children. They were introduced by the aged Mrs Flitwick who also played the keyboard and switched the CD player on and off."Is this Mrs Flitwick and her troop of Dramatic Orphans?" I enquired of the teacher sat next to me.I was expecting it to be dreadful and there was some awful over acting but it was quite funny in parts and the evil magician, who was about 10, scared two of the 'Preppies' to tears. The children sat very well and even B and Toerag were well behaved....thankfully.When the show was over the young actors asked the children if they had any questions. Brock, in my class, asked the boy playing the Narrator who his favourite actor was."'Moi' of course!" he replied with a dramatic flourish.3.00 pm couldn't come soon enough.I survived the week and am looking forward now to my two weeks of freedom.

'Big Mistake......Huge!'

So...Winter is here and it is cold and damp and very unlike the Australia I have been used to thus far but as if all that was not bad enough the U.K goes and votes to leave the E.U.I finally got my vote sorted and Nathan voted for me by proxy.I'm with Graham Norton when he said;"...it's surely safe to say that if Farage, Johnson and Gove think something is a good idea, we can assume it isn't."I cannot believe that so many were persuaded by this trio to vote the way they did. What future is there for the World if we can't all work together, be neighbourly and help those in need.51.9 percent of U.K voters have made a huge mistake.

Hopeless.

So...Day 3 in the realm of Toerag and Fidget.Fidget was a no- show again today and so was A(!)The SENCo arrived at the end of roll to see if he was here and was surprised he wasn't."Don't hold your breath yet" she said as she walked out."Don't go ringing to see where he is!" I called out after her.How strange that I felt a little miffed that A wasn't there after all the planning and preparation I had done to make the day interesting and fun.We started with a 'Guess the Animal' game with a variety of animals stuck on their foreheads with blu-tac. I said we were doing it to practise asking good questions but really it was just for fun. Next we were outside for a number hunt and then back inside sticking the numbers we found into our books. The Y2's pairing numbers that make 20 and the Y1's pairing numbers that make 10. The we did some simple graph work before Morning Tea.After Morning Tea we went into our reading groups and I did antonyms with my groups, Then I read them all the story Leaf Man and we spent the next hour making pictures with leaves that they and I had brought in.I don't know if it was something she ate at Morning Tea but B went completely haywire for this whole session and was generally being loud and uncooperative. That is the thing about this class...you never know what to expect next. She had calmed down by the afternoon session where we made fish out of paper plates and decorated them with scales made from quartered cup cake cases."We always do fun things with you Mr Allen," said S."Thank you" I said thinking the funny thing was when I was planning it all I was really thinking about me and how I could make the day quick and easy for me to get through!I was on bus duty again and I was thinking, amongst all the bickering and shouting and clamour of tired children, that it was another point against ever venturing back into the realm of Toerag and Fidget once this week is over. Here are the gifts I got today. The first two are from J who has been difficult and challenging in the past...
One more day to go!
