Staying ‘Up Over’ for a while.
More lost wallets!
By boat to the clinic.
So...Jen took me to see the nurse in Maclean today to get my stitches out.We went by boat which took us less than 5 minutes and is normally about about 15 minutes by car.Tying up the boat at Maclean, Jen asked me to get hold of a black strap and what she actually said was"Whatever you do do not drop it in the water."What I heard her say was,"Drop it in the water," .....so I did."Noooooo! That is exactly what I did not want to happen," she cried.I was confused but was sure I had heard her right. How could I be so wrong? I felt an idiot! At the clinic, the nurse called a doctor to see my wound. She wanted to leave one of my stitches until Friday but I had one, painfully, removed today.
Still waiting!
So...I rang the hospital last Friday to see if there were any results on the 'lump' they removed. I was put on hold and then told, "Oh, the doctor is in theatre at the moment but I will leave your details for them."I didn't need to speak to Dr Cole, who did the surgery, just someone who could tell me my results. No one got back to me.That Friday I also called Dr Hussein in Stanthorpe to see if he had been sent any results. He hadn't.I tried again today, firstly calling the surgery in Stanthorpe but they had received nothing so rang the hospital again."Oh, I am not sure of procedure on that but am pretty sure they would have called you if there was anything that was urgent. I see you have a review next week. Do you want to leave it until then or would you like me to see if I can speak to someone now?""Er....I would just like to know now if possible," I said having had this thing hanging over me for more than a year."Please hold."I was put through to Dr Coles' secretary. She too was sure that I would have been informed if it had been anything to worry about but she would let Dr Cole know I had rung.I said, "Look, I know he is busy and I don't like to pester and he was sure it was probably just a cyst but I would just like to know once and for all.""Of course you do, I understand that." She said. "Leave it with me."
Life is good.
So...my days recently have been filled with short walks, naps and catching up on long overdue emails. The weather has turned cloudier and there has been some rain.We were visited by Will's sister Shirley and her sister in law Robyn yesterday which was lovely and Will treated them to a cheese tasting of some of the cheeses he had brought down from Stanthorpe. We had a quick shopping trip to MacLean and were asked to pick up a parcel for Tracy which as it turned out wasn't the only one waiting.... There was one for me too!I couldn't understand it and Will was giving nothing away with just his smile but I opened the box to find vimto, midget gems, licorice all sorts and lemon sherbets. It was a 'get well' gift from Andrew in Toowoomba. I had another fit of the 'anaesthesias' at the unexpected kindness of it all. Will has returned unto Frogknot and shall not be back until Saturday at the earliest.I am to MacLean tomorrow.... by boat... to see about getting my sutures removed but I am feeling fine and have been sleeping well since restarting taking my twice daily long term pain killers....oh, and the Barking Tree Frog has stopped 'barking'.Life is good.
