The giant moth of Willowbank.

So...tonight I drove back to Brisbane for tomorrow I have to be at the hospital for some 'pre - op' tests. The journey was good apart from the moment, just after dark when something brushed against my left leg. It was a huge moth! It is a wonder that I did not crash as it flew all around me in the darkness. I wound all the windows down hoping it would escape but it decided to rest upon the dashboard so I was forced to grab it and throw it out of the window....all the while hurtling towards Brisbane at 100 km per hour.

The most traumatized fish in the World!

So...after staying the night at Ros's house we were back at Celtis St today to pick up the final odds and ends of stuff and bring them back to Frogknot. You remember the fish we bought and put in the old bath in the garden?....You don't do you. Tut!....Well we did, ages ago. Will wanted to bring them to Frogknot with us so while he was busy catching them in sieve-like food cloche I cut the grass....well, tried to except the lawn mower kept on stopping. Will had to keep cleaning the spark plug to get it going again. We had a short break when we were invited next door to Peg's 89th birthday lunch. It was the first time I had met her. Bandit, the dog kept licking my legs as if I were his lunch before finally leaping up at me and I thought his claws had torn my chest open...but they hadn't. Dulcie would have liked that we were there for Peg's birthday. I told her. She said she missed Dulcie. We all do.Back at the lawnmower, we cleaned the spark plug twice more to finish cutting all the grass. We packed the fridge in the trailer and then the now empty bath. Will had the fish in a 50 litre box with a lid that we had bought at Bunnings. We packed the trailer with the fish, a bike, and loads of plants that we want to keep.IMG_20160207_153708482 (Medium)Here it is packed up.We are going to have to make another trip to get some more plants that we want but we had to leave them today because we ran out of time and needed to head off. We left just before 4.00 pm.Poor Roxy! She made it up to Cunningham's Gap but almost over heated in doing so.Heaven knows how the fish were doing travelling in their box. The water would have been vibrating and sloshing about as the trailer tugged at Roxy and bumped along the road. We stopped to check they were alright but couldn't see them as they were well packed in behind other stuff. We stopped at Warwick and let Roxy cool down and filled the radiator up with water and headed off again.IMG_20160207_174957728 (Medium)The fish must have breathed a sigh of relief when we stopped only to be jolted once more by the final leg to Frogknot. The last bit up the drive was our biggest concern and Will gunned poor Roxy up the steepest bit with the trailer bucking and jolting behind but she stopped just short of the crest. It was now dark and we were stuck on the hill. We wondered about calling our neighbour Dave to come and tow us in his landrover but tried to sort it ourselves. We had to put logs under the back tyres of the trailer and Roxy and empty the trailer except for the fridge. Will finally just managed to get the trailer up over the crest of the hill. We loaded some of the heaviest items back in the trailer and left the rest by the track on the hill which we will collect tomorrow. We are back at Frogknot and miraculously the fish are still swimming about in the murky, brown water. They must be the most traumatized fish in the World.

The Eaglets have flown!

So...after looking forward to their arrival for months...it is all over and they are heading home. We drove back to Brisbane yesterday towing a trailer to bring back the stuff from our final clearout of Celtis St.We left the trailer at Celtis St and went into the West End for dinner. We had a lovely asian fusion meal and then a Latin themed parade went past. I said we had arranged it specially for their farewell...but they didn't believe me.
We went somewhere else for coffee and cakes then dropped them off at the airport for their flight home. I was very good and held it all together as we hugged goodbye and just crumbled in the car driving away.It has been lovely to see them and show Josh where I live now and in someway the fact he has been here has made it feel more like home.

Days with Josh and Helena.

So...yesterday we took Josh and Helena to Girraween National Park. We climbed the Pyramid, went through the Granite Arch and went for a swim down at The Junction.Josh was keen to see some wildlife and we saw some kangaroos back at the car park. Back home at Frogknot, two more kangaroos, a mother and her joey came to eat some grass in front of the house and then after we watched the sunset from the rocks we found Galore's new sleeping hole and they saw her peeping out.
And that's it!Today we head back to Brisbane as their plane home leaves tonight. It has been so lovely to have them here even if only for a very short time. I think it is going to be hard to see them off.
