Staying ‘Up Over’ for a while.
Days with Josh and Helena.
Helena gets 'leeched!'
So...we are back at Frogknot after a Roxy ride from Brisbane. We stopped off at Cunningham's Gap to see the rainforest. I noticed that someone had written on one of the path signs the words ' leech city' but thought little of it until Helena found one attached to her foot! Josh heroically pulled it off for her. We all checked our feet getting back in the car. It is not the first time that Helena has been leeched....she says it has now happened on 3 continents so she might as well go for the set!We got to Frogknot about 2 ish. We had a walk in the bush before heading to the rocks for a no-show sunset due to cloud. We had a fab steak and chip tea which Josh said was the best meal of his holiday so far!Josh and Helena have the house and Will and I are in our Aldi tent outside for the night but we have a mattress, sheets and duvet so it is more like ' glamping'.I will post a few pictures as soon as I get a chance.Tomorrow we are to Girraween!
The Eaglets have landed.
So...Josh and Helena have arrived safely. We had a lovely city view breakfast...(no frangipani tarts though Anne)...a wander along Southbank and a tad of culture at the Gallery of Modern Art before getting to our city apartment. We are on the 11th floor of 13 with a great city view. I, sadly, immediately set too getting the laundry done that I brought with us...we have a dryer too! We wandered through the city and then had a swim in the rooftop pool before heading off for a Nepalese feast at the Tibetan Kitchen restaurant. We are back in the apartment, worn out and stuffed and all turning in for an early night....Tomorrow we head to Frogknot!...but will return with a load of clean clothes, bedding and towels!...These things matter to me!
Feeling the Heat!
So...we are in Brisbane in readiness for my son Josh and his partner, Helena's arrival tomorrow. It was 38 degrees down here today! It was like walking through soup, it was so hot and clammy. We escaped to the air conditioning of the cinema...well it is a Tuesday...with 'The Danish Girl'. We are under a fan tonight!
Out on the Town!
So....Will was cheese making today. He went in for 7.30 am and did not get home until nearly 7.00 pm!I was expecting him back at 3.00 pm and was having kittens until he texted at 5.30 to say he reckoned he would be another hour yet. I couldn't ring or text him to find out what was going on because I had no phone credit and couldn't top up because I had no internet.I was involved in more cosmetic surgery with cob, and plaster and whitewash and took some rubbish to the local dump which was thankfully open. We are supposed to get a key for it but haven't got round to it yet...but most people leave it open rather than locking it after they have finished dumping their rubbish. The reason for the locks is to keep unwanted dumpers out....but heck! If you can't dump your rubbish in the dump where are you going to dump it?When Will got home late I suggested we go out for tea into Stanthorpe. It was 8.00 pm when we got there. There was a big storm on the horizon, the lightning illuminating the thunder clouds in the darkness. We decided to go to the Boulevard Court Chinese Restaurant. It was very poorly lit as we opened the door and a small chinese woman was peering over the counter like a startled deer. There were no other customers in the place."Are you open?" I asked."Yes" she said, "Table for two?"She brought out menus and we sat down. Suddenly more lights came on."They were going to close up early," I said to Will.Even the town looked dead. Two people walked past walking their dog but I think I only saw one car go up the main street. We had a lovely tasty meal.On the way out we passed a fish tank."Please do not feed the fish or bang on the glass. It scares them,"Â said a sign taped on the glass. It looked like the fish had had enough because they had gone taking the water with them.
