Out on the Town!

So....Will was cheese making today. He went in for 7.30 am and did not get home until nearly 7.00 pm!I was expecting him back at 3.00 pm and was having kittens until he texted at 5.30 to say he reckoned he would be another hour yet. I couldn't ring or text him to find out what was going on because I had no phone credit and couldn't top up because I had no internet.I was involved in more cosmetic surgery with cob, and plaster and whitewash and took some rubbish to the local dump which was thankfully open. We are supposed to get a key for it but haven't got round to it yet...but most people leave it open rather than locking it after they have finished dumping their rubbish. The reason for the locks is to keep unwanted dumpers out....but heck! If you can't dump your rubbish in the dump where are you going to dump it?When Will got home late I suggested we go out for tea into Stanthorpe. It was 8.00 pm when we got there. There was a big storm on the horizon, the lightning illuminating the thunder clouds in the darkness. We decided to go to the Boulevard Court Chinese Restaurant. It was very poorly lit as we opened the door and a small chinese woman was peering over the counter like a startled deer. There were no other customers in the place."Are you open?" I asked."Yes" she said, "Table for two?"She brought out menus and we sat down. Suddenly more lights came on."They were going to close up early," I said to Will.Even the town looked dead. Two people walked past walking their dog but I think I only saw one car go up the main street. We had a lovely tasty meal.On the way out we passed a fish tank."Please do not feed the fish or bang on the glass. It scares them," said a sign taped on the glass. It looked like the fish had had enough because they had gone taking the water with them.

My first Stanthorpe Show.

So....today was Day 1 of the Stanthorpe Show weekend. The weather forecast was dreadful with severe storm warnings. Will says that it usually rains every year at Stanthorpe Show Weekend...and today was no exception. We arrived after a huge downpour and witnessed four more torrential showers before we finally came home in the evening. It was great to bump into and meet so many lovely people that were glad Will was back amongst them. We also were introduced to one of the local headteachers and had a good chat with him about possible supply work and being able to visit and see how things are over here. All the local schools had the day off...a 'show day holiday' and this particular Head was making the most of it at the wine pavilion!....but he seemed to be on beer and perhaps had quite a lot of it. I met a girl whose parents now live in Wigton!...well, Brackenridge...it's a small world!

Bored of the Flies.

So this pretty much sums up yesterday......DSCF1609 (Medium)But today we have been much more active...as have millions of flies! It rained quite a lot in the night so I don't know if that has anything to do with it but today there are 100 times more flies than there were yesterday. Will remembers coming up once with Andrew around Australia Day and there were so many flies that they just had to go straight back to Brisbane.I hope they 'buzz off' soon because we are bored of them now.
