'Don't worry, it will be all white.'

So...today I have mostly been Doris Day and Jean Seberg....Jean in 'Paint Your Wagon'Send back the world There's too much night for me The sky is much too high To shelter me when darkness falls Four cabin walls Would be just right for me I need a threshold I can cross When I can sit and gather moss Forevermore A million miles away behind the door Roll up the plains There's too much view for me There's so much space between The waiting heart, and whispered word It's never heard One room will do for me Where every evening I can stare At someone smiling from his chair Across the floor A million miles away behind the door Where every evening I can stare At someone smiling from his chair Across the floor A million miles away behind the door No fears No fools No lies No rules Just doing with my life What life is for A million miles away behind the doorDoris in 'Calamity Jane'A Nick's touch, a Nick's touch The magic of Aladdin couldn't do as muchHe's a wizard, he's a champ And he doesn't need a lamp A Nick's touch can weave a spell The kind of hocus pocus that he does so well With the magic of a broomHe can mesmerize a room With a whisk whisk here and a whisk whisk there And a dustpan for the cinders With a rub rub here and a rub rub thereHe can polish up the winders Then presto chango  Suddenly, the sun comes shining through And what does Mr Sunshine say to you? How d'you do? It makes you blink, to stop and think A Nick and a whisk-broom  Can accomplish so darn much So never under-estimate a Nick's touch A Nick's touch can quickly fill The empty flower boxes on a window sill One smile from him and zoom Little buds begin to bloom  A touch of paint, a magic nail Can turn a kitchen chair into a Chippendale Even make the lamp appear Like a crystal chandelier With a tack tack here and a tack tack there And a hand around a hammer With a mop mop here and a mop mop there You can give a cabin glamour Then gosh, almighty, all at once The cabin that we knew Becomes a shining castle built for two Me and you The pies and cakes a Nicky bakes Can make a fella tell him  That he loves him very much So never under-estimate a Nick's touch

Almost there!

So...the end of all the sorting, tidying and finding places to put things is finally in sight.Today we made a start on the wardrobes. Will took three bags of clothes to Vinnies but  still managed to hang on to a pink fur jacket, a moose hat, a pom pom bikini top and loads of T shirts that he wants to keep for sentimental reasons...I kid you not they look like they have been attacked by a bear they are so shredded and holey.I finished cleaning the windows, and found places to store the instruments...not easy when we could equip a small symphony orchestra. I stored all the shoes in the cupboard by the door after it was vacated by the bear shredded t-shirts.All the camping gear is now stored in one wardrobe. The suitcases....one filled with a huge bag of, possibly, dog fur or alpaca wool that Will intends to spin...( I know...this is what I have to put up with!)..in another. The cello case fitted into the other wardrobe and there was also room for a few coats. Will still has about six bags or boxes to sort through before we can finally say 'Job Done!'

The Crack of Dawn.

So....I set the alarm for 4.10 am this morning so that we could be up to get the best chance of seeing the alignment of Jupiter, Saturn, Mars , Venus and Mercury. There has not been a planetary alignment like the one at present for ten years. We had read that the best time to see them was between 4.30 and 4.40 this morning. It was just coming light at that time and as the other stars faded the planets stood out. We saw Jupiter, Mars, Saturn and Venus but Mercury eluded us as it was hidden by the trees in the east. This alignment will continue until the end of February so there is still time to catch it and Mercury will slowly move nearer to Venus in that time so we still might get to see it.
