The Christmas Caravan.

So.....we are down at the river at last. We came down from Frogknot earlier today.Yesterday we did more clearing and tidying up about the place and took a load of old batteries to the dump. The batteries were old solar power storage that had gone bust and were just lying around. Some of them were so heavy and it took both of us to lift them.We packed Roxy with them and then had to take some out again as they were so heavy that she was scraping the ground. Getting rid of them was a good job done. I did some more kitchen painting and Will cleared more of the garden paths. As for the cricket in the night....thankfully it stopped at midnight and so I had quite a good night's sleep.
It is all decked out festively as you can see......we have electricity and internet and the sound of more bloomin' crickets!

Possums galore!

So.....we are back up at Frogknot....with another car load of boxes and instruments...The floor paint is dry and looks new and shiny...and there was no evidence of the usual vermin about.....I expect the strong smell of the paint has kept them away....it is still quite pongy.....we have the doors open but the mosquitoes are coming in.We heard a possum  'rasping' in a tree outside and then heard one on the roof.....Will spotted three in the tree, two brush tails ....Creating_habitat_for_wildlife_such_as_the_Brushtail_possum_(8065737659)and a ring tail...ring-tailed-possumPossums galore!(ps. I did not take these pics but got them from Google)

Cousins.

So.....yesterday we went over to Wendi and Geoff's for a 'get-together' of some of the offspring of Dulcie's brothers and sisters. It was a lovely day and a good chance for them all to catch up. It was all very well arranged and organised of course.....IMG_20151220_174956119_HDR (Medium)Here are a couple of quotes from the day......"He's not like other dogs, he just grabs them by the neck and drags them down to the dam and drowns them!""We go away for three days and when we come back as soon as you walk in the house there is still the aroma of guinea pigs.....I have to open all the windows and doors to get rid of it."

'No rest for the wicked.'

So.....today I painted the floor of Frogknot with 4 litres of white paint, drove 3 hours back to Brisbane, baked two lots of 'Dulcie' biscuits for pressies, did two loads of washing and made a Potato salad for the Gilroy gathering at Wendi's tomorrow.
