A life ‘Down Under’!
A Date with a Surgeon.
So.......a letter from the P.A came today just as we were about to head up to Frogknot with a load of packed boxes.I have to go and discuss my upcoming surgery with the surgeon on the 7th January........which puts a bit of a spanner in our post Christmas plans as we were going to Canberra on the 2nd to visit Phoebe for a week!
The Best Laid Plans.....
So.........the original plan was to hire a truck tomorrow to move our stuff up to Frogknot....but as Will has been at work this week on two tidy up days we decided to take tomorrow (Wednesday)as a packing day and hire the truck for Thursday....but then we discover that it is more expensive to hire a truck on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays....the truck hire company that we thought was the cheapest only includes 50 free kms per day and it is 240 kms to Frogknot one way and they charge 35 cents per kilometre over the 50 free ones........today I found a cheaper truck hire company with 100 free kms per day and they charge 27 cents per km over the free 100 but they have no trucks available until the 28th......so we are now moving our stuff on the 28th and have booked the cheaper truck......Heck! I will be glad when it is all over!
Let it snow?!
We have had a lovely weekend back in Brisbane with a visit from Tracy and Jen and the doggies. We played cards in tribute to Dulcie.....Tracy and I were massacred ......but I guess it is only fair that a 'Rodgers' won.The girls left this morning....though we are seeing them again next week. Will has two tidy up days at work this week, today and tomorrow before we set to and get the man-cave cleared and shifted up to Frogknot.I busied myself with jobs and errands that needed doing before we leave, Christmas is in full swing at Garden City where I was hunting for a pressie. It is so un-Christmas-like here, as my third Christmas Down Under approaches. I thought I might eventually feel the Christmas spirit after a while but no.......Christmas and 'heat' will never go together for this boy from Up Over, no matter how many sparkly reindeer and artificial Christmas trees twinkle around me."Oh the weather outside is frightful, But the fire is so delightful,And since we've no place to go,Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!" .......played the piped music in the shopping mall. The weather outside can be frightful but no one has a fire going.......they would be locked up because they are banned.........and it would never snow here......it's just laughable!
