Flights of 'Filmsy'?...........(OK, not one of my best titles.....)

So........these are the films that tried to make our flights Up and Down more enjoyable. It was a difficult choice because all the best films available I had already seen......quite a few of these I had never heard of..... and perhaps with good reason.

The Shock of the New!

It is ages since we have been to Rocklea Markets on a Saturday morning.......but owing to jet lag recovery we were awake at 6.00 am and headed out.My, how things have changed.....it seems the place has been revamped with a different layout and lots of new additions.....including a new 'British' stall that had me crying out for joy!I bought a large bottle of Vimto, some Tunnock's Caramel Bars and some McVities Caramel Digestives! We were concerned that the Tender Golden Calamari on offer was not as it used to be. Gone was the tented awning and in its place a food trailer with no familiar faces......the price had also increased by a dollar to $9 a serving. We needn't have worried, the Yorkshire owner made an appearance and it was just as tender and delicious as it has always been.

Getting back.

"Please don't let the big guy in the red shorts sit next to me!" said Will at Manchester Airport. He didn't. He had another chap with no social awareness who crowded Will out when eating his meals. From Dubai poor Will had Trevelyan for a neighbour, an elderly lady of indeterminate age, who had over kissed the Blarney Stone, and was on her 7th trip Down Under to visit her daughter. She had missed her flight from London due to traffic and had been lucky to get on a Quantas flight to Dubai. She told us she had written a children's story on that flight, as you do. She just dropped into her long conversations that she was in the film Calendar Girls. My mind boggled and I did not remember seeing her without her shawl or anything else......it was quite a relief....but no, she was just an extra. She had been in the Bond film Quantum of Solace and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.I had to rescue him from one of her long monologues at one point by feigning the need to go to the toilet.....she had to get up and went to the loo herself..........we both had earphones in by the time she got back and were watching films......but not ones that she was in.We sailed smoothly through immigration in Brisbane and I declared my paella spices and dry roasted peanuts but the female immigration officer waved me through. We got to bed about 3.00 am and were wakened this morning at 9.00 by the 'Mole' (mower) people cutting the grass next door.Oh joy! Will has discovered a mouse has been nesting in his sock drawer.....there was evidence it had been in mine too but it chose Will's and chewed the fur off his lucky rabbit's foot.It is going to be 30 degrees C today. We're back!
