Badger Galore
Staying ‘Up Over’ for a while.
In search of the Christmas Spirit.
So.....after 'The Bad News' on Channel 9 tonight we were treated to 'The Lord Mayor's Christmas Carols' live from Brisbane's Riverside Stage to help us get into the Christmas spirit. The first song, from a previous winner of Australia's 'The Voice' was 'White Christmas'.....It wasn't a carol and I feared the poor singer was going to be terribly disappointed come the 25th this year and for the foreseeable future if he stayed in Brisbane. The second song was 'Winter Wonderland'.....again not a carol and the poor chap was obviously seriously deluded given the current weather. Will couldn't stand any more and fled downstairs. The next act was 'The Seven Sopranos'......It seemed that Dulcie was beginning to feel the Christmas spirit when they started to kill 'Joy to the World', as she cried out "Jesus!"But during their next song, 'It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year'.........the spirit was gone and Dulcie's verdict was......"The screeching buggers!"........It was not a carol.Next up was 'The Twelve Days of Christmas' accompanied by the didgeridoo..."On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,12 parrots prattling, 11 numbats nagging, 10 lizards leaping, 9 wombats working8 dingoes digging, 7 possums playing, 6 brolgas dancing, 5 kangaroos,4 koalas cuddling, 3 kookaburras, 2 pink galahs and an emu up a gum tree." Fatai was next......Fatai had been on 'The Voice' too.....but hadn't won. Did she sing a carol?........No, she sang her version of a song from the Disney film 'Frozen'......'Do you want to build a snowman?'The quick answer was 'You can't Fatai, because you are in Brisbane.'"I think I'll go to bed," said Dulcie......we switched "The Lord Mayor's Christmas Songs, Not Carols" off. With Dulcie tucked up Will and I headed out for a walk down the road to see another local and very festive street....
'It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas'.....(Surely on the Lord Mayors list of 'carols')........but it just doesn't feel like it.I'm guessing the only Christmas spirit I will find is in a bottle........what a pity I don't drink.
Mile or Mill Stone?
It passed unnoticed....but the other day.....'Stepford' to be precise, was the 500 th post on this blog!I don't hear a fanfare......just someone blowing a raspberry!
Festive City.
After another hot day of doing very little we decided, as we nearly fell asleep head first into our boiled mince, to go out for an evening walk to the city to see the Christmas lights and the light show at City Hall....
Here comes another one!
We didn't get much rain but the wind kindly removed the two blinds we put back after the last storm.Marvellous!
More Festive Dwellings.
So.....there is a competition here for the best festive decorated house which people can enter. Tonight we all went for a short drive around, after our lamb chop, to look at some of them. There is a map showing all the locations of the houses in the competition. There were quite a few people doing the same thing and people who do travel around to see the houses are invited to vote for the one they like best. Here are a few we saw tonight......
