Possum Galore
A life ‘Down Under’!
Whinging Pom?
I woke early in the morning and heard a tiny intermittent tapping sound in the darkness....it didn't sound like an S.O.S but I think it must have been the big cockroach that I found later stuck in an empty crisp packet. It is the second time I have discovered one in similar circumstances.Cockroaches must love crisps!......I binned it......it probably thought it had died and gone to heaven! While Jenny was here assisting Dulcie with her shower, the phone rang,"Hello, this is Sue from Blue Care. I will be there in about 40 minutes.""What for?" I asked confused."To assist with Dulcie's shower," said Sue."But Jenny is already here," I said. No, Blue Care for two days and then two come along at once!Sue hung up to ring the office and find out what was going on. Jenny wasn't surprised....."it happens."With all the terrible things going on the World the second item on 9 News tonight informed us that the bins had been sealed at the main train station in Brisbane because the terrorist threat level has been moved to high. The third item was the National Treasurer, probably speaking because the Prime Minister is in a tent in Arnhem Land, saying that the terrorist tentacles were everywhere and they need to be chopped off.I think it was tentacles.....Stop the World.........
Still jumpy....after all this time.
After almost a year on 'Danger Island' I am a little more relaxed about moving around in the open and yet I am not blasé.Tonight whilst popping down to put some recycling in the bin I was startled by something lying on the lawn beside Roxy in the darkness.I almost squealed but the loud people over the road were sitting on their balcony talking loudly.I was a little relieved to see that it was not snake shaped. It looked suspiciously like a bat....but I have not heard of bats moon bathing upon lawns or resting, lying down rather than hanging upside down. I surmised it was a dead bat and gave it a wide berth to dump the junk in the recycling bin but could not resist going for a closer look on the way back.It was Will's hankie.
"Good Evening, Mr Bond...."
"What's this?" asked Dulcie as Goldfinger came on Channel 9 last night."It's James Bond, Ma, " said Will.Shirley Bassey burst into song over the opening credits...."This is the best Bond theme ever," said Will.Dame Shirley warbled on."Bloody awful singing," said Dulcie."It's Shirley Bassey," said Will."Well, I wouldn't want a record of that!" Said Dulcie, "....I think I'll go to bed."
